Man held for posting lewd photos of women on FB

A 27-year-old man, who clicked inappropriate photos of women and uploaded them on Facebook with obscene comments, was arrested by Ambattur Industrial Estate police.

Police said the accused, Kais Mohammad of Kancheepuram, had even uploaded the photos of his family members and his girlfriend. He was nabbed from a house in the city, where he was staying with his friend.


During interrogation, Kais Mohammad reportedly told police that he became addicted to pornography when he was staying in a hostel with his friends. A Master’s degree holder in Public Health, Kais was working as a project coordinator at a private hospital in Royapettah.


“He started taking photographs of women walking on road and in buses, trains and other public places. Mohammad opened a fresh Facebook page hiding his identity, and started uploading the videos and photographs he had captured,” said the police. He had hidden the faces of the women using smileys. The page had numerous followers, said police.


After a woman came to know that her photos have been uploaded on the page, she lodged a complaint at Ambattur Industrial Estate police station. Based on her complaint, the police team tracked the suspect using his Facebook ID. He was arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
