The deceased Mary and Arokiyaraj were living in Venkatapuram, while Mary’s daughter Margaret is settled in Delhi. Mary’s husband died 30 years ago and Arokiyaraj was taking care of her by doing odd jobs.

On Friday, a foul odour emanated from their house and since the door was locked from inside, police were alerted. They broke open the door and found Mary dead with injuries on her forehead and bed soaked in blood. Arokiyaraj was found dead with his throat slit.

Police inquired their kin Suganthi, living in Little Mount, who told police that she last met Arokiyaraj on Thursday when he reportedly told her that he has been struggling to take care of his bedridden mother.

Police, after investigation, said Arokiyaraj must have killed Mary out of frustration before ending his life with the same knife. Guindy police registered a case under Section 174 of CrPC and 302 of IPC and sent the bodies for postmortem.
