CHENNAI: The Madras High Court on Friday noted that it would pass orders on October 11 on its suggestion to the State to implement the liquor bottle buy-back scheme in Tasmac liquor outlets functioning across the State.
A special division bench of Justice N Sathish Kumar and D Bharatha Chakravarthy passed the direction on hearing a batch of writ petitions regarding forest and wildlife protection.
When the matter was taken up for hearing, Additional Advocate General J Ravindran informed the bench that it has received the suggestions and recommendations from the advocates to implement the liquor bottle buy-back scheme across Tamil Nadu.
The AAG said that the State has to analyze and consider the information suggested by the advocates before taking a call on this matter.
Recording the submissions, the judges directed the State to file a counter on October 11 and held that the court will pass orders on the liquor bottle buy-back scheme on the same day.
Recently, the bench wanted to know the possibilities of implementing the scheme which was already rolled out in hill stations of the State. However, the state submitted that it would be a tough task to implement the method all over Tamil Nadu. As the AAG pointed out several practical difficulties in this matter, the court had appointed advocates who are experts in this subject to devise a plan for the State.
