Lightning kills 35 goats in two incidents in Chengalpattu

Lightning strikes killed 35 goats at two places in Chengalpattu district on Friday evening.

According to the police, Srinivasan and Vijaya of Maduranthagam had taken their goats for grazing in the fields despite the rain. A sudden flash of lightning that struck killed 26 goats on the spot. A team from Maduranthagam police inspected the spot and registered a case. In the second incident, Parvathy of Gurupadamedu village near Cheiyur had locked the goats in a hut. Officials said the lighting struck on an electric pole erected near the hut, killing all nine goats. The Cheiyur police have registered a case.
