Leaders flay violation of RTE Act

PMK leader S Ramadoss has asked the government to act fast in implementing the Right to Education Act to enable students belonging to the poorer sections to continue their studies.

Some private schools were threatening to terminate students for non-payment of the previous year’s fees. Though under Section 16 of the Act it was not possible to terminate students, the schools did not seem to be bothered about the provision, Ramadoss said. He demanded a white paper on the total number of admissions done under the Act during the last six years. G K Vasan of TMC (Moopanar) said in a press statement, “Private schools are not following the RTE Act’’.
