Sources said 21 streets which come under these wards will be sealed and the residents will not be allowed even to go for work. Essentials including groceries and vegetables will be distributed by the district administration. Officials believe the move will help curtail COVID-19 cases in the district.

Meanwhile, Maduranthagam Vanigar Sangam announced that all shops will remain closed till July 19. The Sangam decision follows the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Maduranthagam. Even the vegetables and provision stores will be closed for one week and the provisions and vegetables will be supplied by the municipality at residents’ doorstep.
