Searches were also carried out in premises of certain people in Madurai and Karur, sources added.

The CCB had carried out searches in 17 places in January in connection with re-investigation into the job fraud case. A week later Senthil Balaji’s house in Mandaveli was also searched by the sleuths.

Senthil Balaji was an AIADMK minister but had shifted his loyalties to the DMK and is currently the Aruvakurichi MLA.

The case relates to the huge amount of money allegedly collected by certain people promising jobs as drivers and conductors during year 2014 and 2015.

Based on a complaint by S Devashayam in 2015, the CCB registered a case under the IPC Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating) and 506 (i) (criminal intimidation). Money was collected from 81 people with promises of jobs in the Transport Department.

The CCB started reinvestigation in November last year after the Madras High Court ordered another probe.
