In the complaint, Shiela accused her family members, whom she did not name, of isolating her with the intention of denying her a share of her father’s estate.
A lawyer by profession, Sheila is separated from her husband B Babu Manoharan, Chairman of St Joseph College of Engineering.
Her two children are married. According to Sheila, her mother Remibai Jeppiaar, who took over as the Managing Trustee following Jeppiaar’s demise last year, promised to create another trust for her. “In return, I was asked to step down as permanent trustee of Jeppiaar Trust, which I did, trusting my mother,” she mentioned in the complaint.
However, after the first death anniversary (June 18) of Jeppiaar, Sheila said she was kept a prisoner at home. On June 22, she was forcibly removed from the house against her wish. Claiming that she has an equal right to Jeppiar’s estate, like her three other sisters, Sheila has sought the help of police to continue residing in Jeppiaar’s house and protection from her abusers.
