India gets its first wine in a can

The canned wine market is worth $70 million in the United States which is up by 70 per cent in 2018, according to Nielsen data. Sula Vineyards, one of India’s biggest wineries, recently launched India’s first wine in a can called Dia Sparkler, making it the first player in the country to offer the beverage in a can.

The wine will be available in two flavours — Dia Red Sparkler and the Dia White Sparkler. Low in alcohol, at 8 per cent alcohol by volume (ABV), in line with strong beer, the company aims for these wine cans to be suitable for any hour of the day. Be it for house parties, pool parties, or for a family binge movie watching session.

The wine in a can is also meant to fit the ‘on the go’ need of the hour. The founder and Chief Executive of Sula Vineyards Rajeev Samant says, “At Sula, we are always on the lookout to bring new experiences. We are thrilled to bring Dia in a brand new avatar. It is India’s first wine sparkler in a can. Not just convenience, the drink promises all things light, bubbly and refreshing.”
