Independent films, documentaries to be screened in the city

When filmmaker Arun Mo along with a few friends started Thamizh Studio, his intention was to organise various initiatives that would support aspiring filmmakers. To introduce cinephiles and film aspirants to independent world cinema, the team is organising a film fest called the International Film Festival of Chennai on February 8 and 9 at Prasad Lab in Saligramam.

“This is a two-day crowdfunded independent film festival where around 35 films and selected documentaries will be screened. We will be organising three masterclasses for the participants. There will be a cinematography class by GP Krishna, filmmaking class by Sri Lankan filmmaker Prasanna Vithanage and Sivakumar will be talking on independent films. Apart from this, there will be two-panel discussions on films. The entry fee for the fest is Rs 200,” says Arun.


On the first day, the Malayalam film Veyil Marangal will be screened. Kumbalangi Nights director Madhu C Narayanan will be opening the festival and director Mysskin will be present during the closing day function.
