Hoax bomb threat causes panic at Chennai airport; flights delayed

The email, which arrived early this morning, claimed that bombs were planted at the airport, triggering immediate action from airport authorities and IndiGo Airlines.

CHENNAI: The city airport witnessed yet another bomb threat, which turned out to be hoax, creating a tense environment on Tuesday morning.

The IndiGo airline office received an email stating explosives were planted across the airport premises and were set to explode at any time.

The airport director, CV Deepak, and the police were immediately alerted, and an emergency security meeting was held.

The Indigo flights to Port Blair, Mumbai and Delhi were thoroughly checked with the help of sniffer dogs, after which the threat was confirmed as a hoax.

According to police, the email was created under the name Anemia Begum.

A case has been registered to find the culprit.
