Get to the ground, help public: DMK high command instructs cadre as heavy rain threat looms

The DMK high command directed the leaders and cadre to go on the ground to help the people who are affected by it.

CHENNAI: Taking note of the warning issued by the weather department that Chennai and its neighbouring districts are likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall measuring 204 mm or more, the DMK high command directed the leaders and cadre to go on the ground to help the people who are affected by it.

While the State government is taking all measures, the party members should add to the efforts, it said in the instruction.

The DMK headquarters have asked them to advise the public to be prepared for the extremely heavy rains by stocking up the following essential items for two-three days:

- Vegetables

- Rice

- Lentils

- Oil

- Candles

- Matchboxes

- Soap

- Toiletries

- Biscuits for children

In addition to food, one can also stock up on:

- Clothing

- Flashlights

- Batteries

- First aid kits

Residents are also urged to keep their mobile phones, laptops and battery banks charged.
