GCC school teachers participate in TESOL Methodology

The training was conducted to improve the English language skills and was provided for 8 weeks.

CHENNAI: As many as 24 teachers from Chennai Corporation schools took part in TESOL Methodology (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Language) conducted by the American Embassy.

Chennai Corporation Mayor R Priya distributed certificates to the teachers who had completed the training programme on Wednesday at the Ripon Building.

The training was conducted to improve the English language skills and was provided for 8 weeks. The Greater Chennai Corporation has carried out various activities to develop the language among the Corporation's school students.

“Recently, we released an emblem to develop the leadership among the students. From this academic year, classes and sports leaders are allotted. Teachers are instructed to conduct class tests weekly once, and to improve English reading skills, the students should read the lesson for 5 mins and will be explained by the concerned teachers,” said Mayor Priya.

Chennai Corporation Commissioner Gagandeep Singh Bedi and deputy mayor M Magesh Kumar were also present at the event.
