72-year-old man murders 60-year-old wife for not serving food on time in Tiruvallur

Police said that after examining all angles, including family dynamics and possible motives they have arrested victim's husband Vinayagam, 72, who allegedly killed his wife for not serving food on time

CHENNAI:  A 72-year-old man was arrested in Tirumullaivoyal for allegedly killing his 60-year-old wife for not serving food on time, on Wednesday night.

It was their son who found the woman dead under suspicious circumstances at her residence in Kamalam Nagar in Tirumullaivoyal on Tuesday night. The victim, identified as Dhanalakshmi, a retired employee of Britannia, was found with a fatal neck injury in her home at Kamalam Nagar 3rd Street.

After examining all angles, including family dynamics and all possible motives, they arrested the victim's husband Vinayagam (72), for allegedly murdering his wife for not serving food on time.

According to the police, Dhanalakshmi resided with her husband, Vinayagam, and two unmarried sons, Thangaganaapathy (34) and Manikandan (32). The incident came to light when the elder son, Thangaganaapathy, returned from work around 9.30 pm and found his mother lying in a pool of blood in the hall, with her throat slit.

A team from the Tirumullaivoyal police station immediately rushed to the house to secure the crime scene. After preliminary investigations, police zeroed in on Vinayagam as the prime suspect in the case and arrested him. The body has been sent to Government Kilpauk Medical College for autopsy.
