Duo on crime spree on ECR, OMR held with 16 phones

Two habitual offenders have been arrested for allegedly involving in a series of robberies and snatching on East Coast Road and Old Mahabalipuram Road. Kannagi Nagar Police also seized 16 stolen mobiles from the arrested duo.

The arrested were identified as M Jayaraj, 18, from Kannagi Nagar and V Raja, 24, of the same neighbourhood. After a series of cases of extortion getting reported in and around ECR and OMR, Kannagi Nagar inspector Veerakumar had formed a special team to nab the suspect and two wanted men were caught during the investigation by the police.

Police said the accused, being habitual offenders, were nabbed after carefully following their movement.

The accused were also involved in a few similar cases registered in Foreshore Estate, Mylapore and Tiruvanmiyur, police said adding they are in the process of identifying the persons from whom the arrested have robbed the mobile phones.
