CHENNAI: A Madurai-Dubai flight made an emergency landing at the Chennai airport following a snag mid-air on Monday. Spice Jet flight to Dubai departed at 12.37 pm from Madurai airport with 167 passengers and six crew members.

Around 1.15 pm, when the flight was mid-air at 27,000 feet above, the pilot noticed a technical snag in one of the engines. Considering the risk, the pilot contacted the Chennai ATC and sought permission for an emergency landing. The ATC made all the necessary arrangements on the runway. Later, the flight landed safely at 2.35 pm.

After the engineering team repaired the fault, the flight took off to Dubai at 8:15 pm. Airline sources said that if the problem couldn’t be resolved by then, a spare flight would be arranged.
