Drumsticks, small onions and curry leaves get cheaper at Chennai's Koyambedu market on February 2, 2026

CHENNAI: Vegetable prices continued to fluctuate sharply at Chennai's Koyambedu wholesale market on Monday (February 2).

According to the traders, compared to Feb 1, the price of curry leaves has plunged sharply.

While curry leaves were sold at Rs 130 on Sunday, today the price has decreased by Rs 50 to Rs 90 per kg.

Some vegetables record hike in prices

Beans, which were sold at Rs 35, has increased by Rs 10 and is now selling at Rs 45 per kg.

Ooty carrots, which were sold at Rs 35 per kg on February 1, are now sold at Rs 40 per kg, a rise of Rs 5.

Meanwhile, green chillies, and bell pepper, which were priced at Rs 45 per kg on Februray 1, are now being sold at Rs 50 per kg, marking a rise of Rs 5.

Some vegetables record dip in prices

Drumstick, which was selling for Rs 150 per kg on Feb 1, is now being sold at Rs 140 per kg, marking a dip of Rs 10.

Similarly, small onion were priced at Rs 50 per kg on Sunday, but are now being sold at Rs 40 per kg, after a Rs 10 dip.

Prices of most other vegetables remain unchanged

According to traders, onions, tomatoes, potatoes, continue to be sold at the same price, since February 1.

Onions are priced at Rs 22 per kg, tomatoes are priced at Rs 20 per kg, and potatoes are priced at Rs 15 per kg.

Garlic continues to be sold at Rs 100 per kg, while ginger is sold at Rs 70 per kg and raw mango is sold at Rs 60 per kg.

Corainder and mint leaves are sold at Rs 3 and Rs 3 per bunch, respectively.
