Drumstick price jumps to Rs 320 per kg on January 2, 2026 at Chennai's Koyambedu market

CHENNAI: Vegetable prices continued to fluctuate sharply at Chennai’s Koyambedu wholesale market on Friday (January 2).

According to the traders, compared to last Monday (Dec 29), the price of drumsticks has surged sharply.

While one kg of drumsticks was sold at Rs 180 last Monday, today the price has increased by Rs 140 to Rs 320 per kg.

In contrast, coconut prices have come down, one kg of coconut, which was sold at Rs 62, has dropped by Rs 16 and is now selling at Rs 46 per kg.

Beans prices have also fallen by Rs 15 and are being sold at Rs 25 per kg today.

Tomato and Ooty carrot prices have decreased by Rs 10 per kg each.

Tomatoes, which were priced at Rs 50 per kg on Monday, are now available at Rs 40 per kg, while carrots have dropped from Rs 45 per kg to Rs 35 per kg.

Prices of yam, cauliflower, snake gourd and onion have also declined.

Yam has come down by Rs 8 and is now sold at Rs 32 per kg. Cauliflower, which was Rs 45 per kg on Monday, has dropped by Rs 5 to Rs 40 per kg.

Snake gourd has fallen by Rs 5 from Rs 25 per kg to Rs 20 per kg.

Onion prices have also eased, with one kg now selling at Rs 26, down by Rs 4 from Rs 30 per kg earlier.
