Drumstick and beetroot get cheaper while cauliflower get costlier at Chennai's Koyambedu market on Dec 12, 2025

CHENNAI:  Vegetable prices continued to fluctuate sharply at Chennai’s Koyambedu wholesale market on Friday (December 12).

According to traders, drumstick price fell sharply by Rs 50 per kg, slipping from Rs 200 per kg on December 6 to Rs 150 per kg today.

Cauliflower saw the steepest rise today, increasing by Rs 40 per kg. The price, which stood at Rs 30 per kg on December 6, has now climbed to Rs 70 per kg.

Garlic prices increased by Rs 10 per kg, rising from Rs 110 on December 6 to Rs 120 on Friday.

Among vegetables that became cheaper, tomato price reduced by Rs 10 per kg, declining from Rs 40 on December 6 to Rs 30 per kg.

Lemon also dipped marginally by Rs 10 per kg, coming down from Rs 50 to Rs 40 per kg.

Green chillies saw a drop of Rs 10, coming down from Rs 40 to Rs 30 per kg.

Similarly Ginger dipped by Rs 10 per kg, coming down from Rs 70 to Rs 60 per kg.

Peas, which sold for Rs 90 per kg on December 6, is now priced at Rs 80 per kg.

Mango, which was at Rs 40 per kg on December 6, is now selling for Rs 30 per kg.

Beetroot, which was sold at Rs 50 per kg on December 6, is now being sold at Rs 35 per kg after an decrease of Rs 15.

Onion prices eased marginally by Rs 4, increasing from Rs 28 to Rs 32 per kg.
