Driver looted ATM cash to repay debt

While police have arrested four men including the main accused Udayakumar in connection with Rs 28 lakh heist at Chennai airport, police sources said that he had lost all his money in gambling and robbed the cash to repay his debt.

He often went to the gambling club run by an another accused, Devaraj, near Porur and lost all his money. 

After he joined Writer Safeguard, he told Devaraj and his two other friends Karthikeyan and Pandian about the nature of his new job and they gave him the idea of running away with ATM money to clear all his debt. When Udayakumar drove away a car with the cash, three other men were waiting outside the airport in another car.
