Cops foil man’s attempt to marry minor girl

A 52-year-old man, who allegedly kidnapped a minor girl and attempted to marry her, was arrested by the Secretariat Colony police.

The accused M Meeran (52) of Otteri alleged took the minor girl with him after telling her parents that he needs someone to take care of his ailing wife. However, Meeran, who took the girl out on a cab on Monday morning, did not return till late night.

Since there was no information from him, the girl’s parents filed a complaint, after which the police traced the girl to Tiruchy and rescued her.

They also secured Meeran and interrogated him during which he reportedly admitted that he was planning to marry the girl in Tiruchy. He was arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
