CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has directed the Mahila Court Thiruvallur to fasten the trial of the television actress Chitra's suicide case and complete it within six months.

Chitra's father Kamaraj moved the Madras High Court (MHC) seeking to transfer the trial of her daughter's suicide case from Thiruvallur court to sessions court Chennai and fasten the trial.

The petition was listed before Justice N Anand Venkatesh. The petitioner contended that considering his old age the case should be transferred to Chennai sessions court. However, the judge refused to transfer the case and directed the Mahila court in Thiruvallur to fasten up the trial and complete it in six months.

According to the petitioner, the prime accused of the case Hemanth is trying to slow down the trial of the case by filing various petitions.

In 2020, popular television actress Chitra was found dead in a resort room on the outskirts of Chennai. The police booked Chitra's husband Hemanth and the trial is pending in the Mahila Court Thiruvallur.
