According to a CMRL statement, in addition to the existing safety and precautionary measures, it has been decided that, with effect from November 23, all first-class metro coaches in Chennai would be reserved for women to facilitate additional occupancy for women passengers while travelling in the metro trains. However, charges will be the same as normal coaches.

“Apart from this, stringent measures have been undertaken by CMRL for the safety of women passengers, including 360-degree CCTV camera monitoring the all trains and stations, women-only toilets, customer care facility, zero tolerance for drunkards and trouble makers, deployment of security staff in all metro stations,” the statement said.
