CMDA floats bid to construct sprawling craft bazaar at Koyambedu

According to an official, the proposed site for the craft bazaar belongs to Greater Chennai Corporation.

CHENNAI: The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA)  has invited bids to construct Kaivannam Sathukkam (Chennai Craft Square/ Bazaar) in Koyambedu for Rs 40 crore to promote handicrafts.

CMDA chairperson and HR&CE Minister PK Sekarbabu had made the craft bazaar announcement in the 2024-25 budget session.

An official said the proposed site for the project belongs to the city corporation. The craft square, spanning 7,305 sqm., will have shops, a multi-purpose hall, an art gallery, space for demonstration and conducting workshops, a children's park, a food court, a restaurant, a souvenir shop, commercial space, and other amenities.
