The deceased, A Ruhee, had just completed Class 10 and is said to have scored over 90 per cent marks. The incident happened around 5.30 pm when she was playing with her cousins in the apartment on the 12th floor in Purasawalkam.

After a quarrel erupted between them over keeping the fan at a particular speed, Ruhee’s cousins complained to their mother and she was allegedly asked to go to another room. However, as she stayed put in the room, the children fought again. Dejected by this, Ruhee went to the terrace and jumped. On information, the Secretariat Colony police went to the spot and retrieved her body to send it to Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination. Police said that there was no suspicion over the incident. A case has been registered.
