Chennai: Woman found dead with cut and burn injuries; man detained on murder suspicion

Police have detained a 28 year old man on suspicions of murder.

Chennai: A 48 year old woman was found dead with cut and burn injuries at her residence in Arumbakkam on Thursday.

Police have detained a 28 year old man on suspicions of murder.

The deceased woman was identified as S Amudha. She lived with her husband, Sreenivasan at a house off 100 feet road in Arumbakkam.

On Thursday, Sreenivasan and Amudha went to the tea stall run by them and Amudha returned home for lunch.

Meanwhile, in the evening, neighbours heard loud screams coming from Amudha's house and rushed to find that she was lying unconscious with slight burn injuries and cut injuries.

Police were alerted and a team secured her and moved her to a hospital where she was declared as brought dead.

The injuries on the woman's body have suggested murder. Police sources said that a 28 year old youth has been detained for investigations in connection with the woman's death.
