Chennai: Search on for man attempting to mow down cop

CHENNAI: The Rajamangalam police have launched a search for suspects who allegedly tried to mow down a traffic constable when he intercepted a car near Kolathur on Thursday morning to take a breathalyser test.

A Villivakkam traffic enforcement wing team was conducting vehicle checks at Ganesh Nagar 200 feet Road in Kolathur.

SSI Ramesh and Constable Vasudevan attempted to stop a car. The driver, who initially slowed down, suddenly sped up and fled.

Constable Vasudevan chased the car on his bike and intercepted the driver. However, he again drove off, scaring the constable as if he was to mow him down and fled. The constable sustained minor injuries and filed a complaint.
