Chennai Metro Rail records 92.10 lakh passenger ridership in March

The ridership was at 86.99 lakh passengers and 86.65 lakh passengers in the month of February.

CHENNAI: The Chennai Metro Rail ridership for March has increased by 5.44 lakh compared to previous months. Overall, in March 92.10 lakh footfall had been recorded. As per the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) press note, over 92.10 lakh passengers had travelled on the Metro in March. After a decline in ridership from late 2024 till February 2025, and witnessing a marginal spike rarely, the ridership in March surged. The single-day ridership in March was on March 7 with over 3.45 lakh/day passengers. Meanwhile, average ridership has been maintained at 3.35 lakh ridership/day. Additionally, in March, 42.52 lakh passengers used Singara Chennai cards, 9.81 lakh used travel cards and 19.41 lakh used paper QR.
