Chennai: Man found stuffed in sack, special team to crack murder

CHENNAI: The police recovered the body of a man found stuffed inside a gunny bag near a two-wheeler showroom in Indira Nagar 1st Avenue locality in Adyar, on Monday morning.

Suspicious on noticing a blood-stained sack, residents alerted the police, after which a team from Adyar police station rushed to the scene and secured the sack. On unwrapping the sack, police found the body of a man with several injuries, suggesting that he had been murdered.

The police said that the man appeared to be a guest worker and was about 40 years old.

Fingerprint and forensic experts examined the scene and collected evidence. The body was sent to Government Royapettah Hospital (GRH) for post-mortem examination.

A case was registered, and a special police team was formed to identify the victim, trace the suspects, and determine the motive behind the murder.

According to police sources, the CCTV footage from the neighbourhood shows two men on a motorcycle carrying the sack around midnight on Sunday.

The police are also verifying records of missing persons reported in Chennai over the past week to establish the identity of the deceased. Further investigation is in progress.
