CHENNAI: The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has begun work on constructing lounges with changing rooms and restroom facilities for sanitation workers in Zone 1, covering Divisions 1 to 10, at a cost of Rs 1.50 crore.

The project follows Chief Minister MK Stalin’s announcement in November 2025 during the launch of the three-meal per day scheme for the city’s cleanliness workers, where he also promised building up for rest rooms, changing facilities and lounges across 200 wards in the city.
