Drumstick price rises by Rs 50, cauliflower drops by Rs 30 at Chennai's Koyambedu market on December 20, 2025

CHENNAI: Vegetable prices continued to fluctuate sharply at Chennai’s Koyambedu wholesale market on Saturday (December 20), with drumstick prices surging after a sharp fall earlier this week.

According to traders, drumstick prices surged by Rs 50 per kg to Rs 200, reversing the decline recorded on December 18, when it had dropped to Rs 150 per kg.

Coming to essentials, tomato prices rose by Rs 5 to Rs 30 per kg, after dipping to Rs 26 per kg earlier in the week. But onion rates declined by Rs 6 to Rs 30 per kg, easing from Rs 36 per kg on December 18.

On the other hand, cauliflower prices dropped sharply by Rs 30 and are currently sold at Rs 30 per kg.

Carrot prices too fell by Rs 10 to Rs 40 per kg.

Lemon prices dropped by Rs 5 to Rs 20 per kg, correcting after a spike earlier this week.

Mint saw a decrease of Rs 3, selling at Rs 2 per bunch.

Prices of beans, peas, potatoes, shallots, green chillies, garlic, mango and ginger remained unchanged. Coconut continues to be sold at Rs 64, with no change in price.
