Chennai: Gold registers Rs 1,360 rise on a single day, on March 30, 2026

CHENNAI: Gold prices in the city rise sharply on Monday evening (March 30), increasing by Rs 1,360 per sovereign (8 grams).

During the morning session, gold was priced at Rs 1,08,800 per sovereign and Rs 13,600 per gram. With the evening price rise, the yellow metal has now increased by Rs 1,360 in a single day.

22-carat gold is now priced at Rs 1,10,160 per sovereign and Rs 13,770 per gram, after a decrease of Rs 170.

Silver price

Silver prices also increase by Rs 255 (Rs 2,55,000 per kg) on March 30.

Gold remains significantly higher compared to last year. Prices have surged from Rs 66,880 per sovereign (Rs 8,360 per gram) on March 29, 2025, to Rs 1,10,160 per sovereign (Rs 13,770 per gram) on March 30, 2026, evening, marking an increase of Rs 43,280 or about 64.7%.
