Chennai: Fourth accused arrested in college canteen sexual assault case

The case was initiated after the victim filed a complaint at the Saidapet All-Women Police Station, alleging assault men linked to the canteen at different times.

CHENNAI: A fourth person has been arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a woman working at the Government Arts and Science College canteen in Chennai's Nandanam.

The arrest of Pakkiaraj, a canteen employee, was made on Friday, following the earlier apprehension of three others: canteen owner Muthuselvam, cook Gunasekaran, and auto-rickshaw driver Karthikeyan.

The case was initiated after the victim filed a complaint at the Saidapet All-Women Police Station, alleging assault men linked to the canteen at different times.

Authorities have registered the case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Tamil Nadu Women Harassment Prevention Act.

Police stated the investigation, which revealed the involvement of multiple individuals connected to the canteen, is ongoing. The fourth arrest was based on further evidence and questioning.
