Chennai boy kidnapped by youngsters rescued

According to police sources, the boy, Sabari is a first-year student at a private polytechnic institute in Chennai.

CHENNAI: Police on Thursday arrested two persons for allegedly kidnapping a 17-year-old boy, a polytechnic student in Porur and demanded a ransom of Rs 30,000 from his parents.

According to police sources, the boy, Sabari is a first year student at a private polytechnic institute in Chennai.

On Tuesday evening, Sabari’s mother, Susheela received a phone call, in which the callers claimed to have kidnapped her son and cut off the phone. The callers had demanded Rs 30,000 from the woman. Alarmed, the woman sought the help of the police.

Police got into action and sought a trace on the last known location of Sabari's mobile phone and found it to be at an abandoned ground near Karambakkam and rescued the minor boy.

Police investigations revealed that Sabari had sought for a lift from a bike and the occupants of the bike took him to an abandoned place and called his mother claiming that he damaged their car and sought the money.

Police arrested the duo- Balaji (25) and Vijay (21), who have previous criminal cases against them. They were produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
