Chengalpattu EB pole accident: Treatment fails to revive 11-yr-old

The deceased Kirthika of Chithiravadi village near Maduranthagam was a school student. Police said in the holidays Kirthika went to her grandparent's house in Avarimettu village in Chengalpattu.

CHENNAI: A 11-year-old girl who was injured after an EB pole fell on her in Chengalpattu died without responding to treatments on Friday.

The deceased Kirthika of Chithiravadi village near Maduranthagam was a school student. Police said in the holidays Kirthika went to her grandparent's house in Avarimettu village in Chengalpattu. On October 5th while playing outside the house an electric pole was broken and fell on Kirthika with severe injuries she was admitted to the Children's hospital in Egmore.

Police said Kirthika who was in ICU died without responding to treatments on Friday. Following that the villagers protested on the Chithamur-Chitravadi road and demanded to take action against the government officials who did not change the EB pole which was in a bad condition.

The Maduranthagam EB officials along with the Chithamur police and revenue officials who visited the spot held peace talks with the villagers and promised to take action and change the EB poles that are in bad shape.
