On Wednesday night, Ramesh Kumar, a driver with a private travel firm, who currently works as a security guard for the parked buses of the same firm, approached Koyambedu police with a complaint that a luxury bus stationed on 100 Feet Road near SBI Bank was found missing on his return after dinner.

Police soon shared the details of the missing vehicle with toll plazas around the city and a few hours later the staff at Red Hills toll plaza informed police that the bus had crossed the plaza and was proceeding towards Tiruvallur. Immediately, Tiruvallur police were alerted and the bus was seized.

The duo along with the bus was handed over to Koyambedu police and the accused were identified as Arunkumar (36) and Karthik (32). Investigation revealed that the duo had given Rs 50,000 to one Chandran, a broker, as advance to buy a bus assuming that he is the manager of the travels firm.

While Chandran did not respond to them after receiving the money, the duo decided to drive away a bus and landed in police custody. Further investigation is on. Based on their complaint, police have launched a hunt for Chandran as well.
