BSNL electronic equipment worth Rs one crore destroyed in fire

Electronic equipment worth Rs one crore was destroyed in a fire at the Divisional BSNL office here, officials said today.

Fire service personnel took more than an hour to put out the fire early morning yesterday, and officials made an assessment of the damage today.

Officials said exchange equipment providing links to 4500 internet connections was destroyed in the fire.

Superintendent of Police E.S. Uma visited the spot for an on-the-spot assessment of the damage.

It would take two days to resume the services in the affected lines, police said, adding, they suspect sabotage to be the reason for the fire.
