Avadi cops arrest man for grabbing NRI-owned land

Police sources said that he impersonated family members of the NRI and forged documents to usurp the lands.

CHENNAI: A 42-year-old man, D Venkatesan, a resident of Palavakkam, was arrested by the Avadi City Police on Saturday for forging documents to usurp the lands of two NRIs.

Police sources said that he impersonated family members of the NRI and forged documents to usurp the lands.

According to the police, one of the complainants, Vasuki who works in the USA owns a 6000 sq ft land in Maxworth Nagar in Kolapakkam. Another woman, Senthamarai also working in the US owns 2200 sqft of land in the same area and both of them had left the property maintenance at the hands of a local, Sivaprakasam.

Sivaprakasam found out about the fraud and filed a police complaint after which the police arrested Venkatesan.
