He has been booked under provisions of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act. The arrested was identified as Vinoth.

The police said that a woman who went to use the bathroom spotted the mobile phone placed on top of the dividing wall between the bathroom and toilet.

When she raised alarm, Vinoth reportedly tried to escape with the mobile phone. But a few men in the area overpowered him and snatched the phone.

“When members of the public checked the phone, they couldn’t find any video. But the phone was then sent for a forensic examination and investigators retrieved dozens of deleted videos of women bathing in the same bathroom. It looks like he had been doing it for many days,” the police noted.

The police arrested Vinoth based on a complaint and remanded him in judicial custody.
