During the five-day programme that will be fully online, topics such as e-waste, industrial hazardous (liquid and solid) waste management, municipal waste management, and plastics and polymer recycling will be taken up.

“Many of the environmental challenges caused by the improper waste disposal practice in developing countries like India result in producing huge quantities of greenhouse gas emissions and the resulting effect on climate change can be felt world over. Therefore, the waste management has now become a matter of great concern,” said a senior staff from the university.

The faculty development programme aimed to discuss suitable technologies available to ameliorate the environmental load from the huge amount of residuals generated by industrial development and consumption lifestyles, the official said.

The assessment on topics covered would also be done online and a minimum 80 per cent attendance and 60 per cent marks are required to obtain the certificate, he added.

Anna University Vice Chancellor MK Surappa would be the chief patron for this training, while Registrar L Karunamoorthy will be the patron.
