Anna University canteen worker held for laptop theft

Police investigations revealed that Bipul Das had joined as a canteen worker in an eatery within the university in Guindy.

CHENNAI: A 36-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly stealing laptop from a canteen in Anna University campus. The arrested person was identified as Bipul Das of Assam.

Police investigations revealed that Bipul Das had joined as a canteen worker in an eatery within the university in Guindy.

On Wednesday (October 12), the laptop of the canteen manager, Rajkumar went missing after which he filed a complaint with the Kotturpuram police station.

After investigations, it was revealed that Bipul Das stole his manager’s laptop to spite him. The accused had joined the canteen as a worker two months ago. The manager was allegedly harsh on him for not doing work properly and used to chide Bipul Das often, police said.

Police recovered the stolen laptop from Bipul Das. He was produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody.
