While the Metro operates four feeder cabs from the station to MEPZ, the commuters, however, feel that the feeder cab services are inadequate and want small buses to various nearby destinations. “The four cabs are insufficient during peak hours. There are instances where all these four cabs are not operated if drivers do not report. No alternative drivers are provided by the agency who operate the feeder cab service. Metro users are thus put to hardship,” said P Viswanathan of Chitlapakkam.

He suggested that the MTC should start operating small bus service from the station to MEPZ and other nearby destinations. “The bus service would help transport more people exiting the Metro trains reach various destinations,” he said. Another commuter sought provision of escalators facility at Tirusulam railway station. “Many Metro passengers use Tirusulam station to reach and exit Airport Metro station. Hence, escalators should be provided, as the steps are steep. Also, ticket counters could be placed properly as the users need not climb again for buying ticket. Escalator facility at Tirusulam would help further improve the Metro Rail traffic,” said K Shanmugham, a commuter. A senior Metro Rail official said that the number of cab services would be increased if the demand goes up.
