8 kg ganja seized from passenger at Central Railway Station

CHENNAI: Government Railway Police (GRP) on Friday arrested a 25-year-old man at the Central railway station, who attempted to smuggle in 8 kilograms of ganja by train.

The arrested man was identified as D Satish of Vishakapatnam.

Police said that they received a tip off about ganja being smuggled in one of the trains and a team headed by GRP Inspector, Sasikala were scanning all trains and passengers.

On checking the passengers, who arrived by the Dhanbad-Alleppey express, which reached Chennai around 12.30 am on Friday, police intercepted Satish on suspicion and found ganja in his possession.

After seizing the narcotics, he was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
