7-hour powercut in Alandur following fire in 33 KV breaker

A 33kv breaker is kept at the EB assistant engineer office on MKN Road in Alandur, from which power supply is distributed to many places in Alandur.

CHENNAI: Power supply was interrupted in Alandur and its surrounding areas for about seven hours on Thursday night following a fire in the 33 KV breaker.

A 33kv breaker is kept at the EB assistant engineer office on MKN Road in Alandur, from which power supply is distributed to many places in Alandur.

On Thursday night, the breakers caught fire due to a short circuit. Soon, the staff turned off the power supply and on information, fire and rescue team who rushed to the spot doused the fire. Following the incident, power was shut down completely in Alandur and its surrounding areas till early morning. However, the workers managed to replace the breakers in the morning and the power supply resumed.
