62-year-old conservancy worker run over by MTC bus in depot

On Saturday morning, while she was doing her job, Gopi, a technician had reversed the bus without noticing her and ran over her, police said.

CHENNAI: Baby Ammal (62), a conservancy worker from Avadi market road, was allegedly run over by a MTC bus in Ambattur Industrial Estate bus depot on Saturday morning. She had been working as a conservancy worker in the bus depot for the past five years.

On Saturday morning, while she was doing her job, Gopi, a technician had reversed the bus without noticing her and ran over her, police said. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. Ambattur Industrial Estate Police registered a case and sent the body to the Stanley GH for autopsy. Gopi was booked by the police for causing death due to negligence. Further investigations are on.
