30 intl, eight domestic flights cancelled

As many as 30 international and eight domestic flights were cancelled at Chennai airport on Tuesday in the wake of coronavirus threat.

Sources said the number of those flying outside the country or to other states are decreasing with every passing day due to the upsurge in coronavirus cases across the country and abroad.


On Tuesday, the arrival and departure of three flights to Sri Lanka and Kuwait, two flights to Thailand and Malaysia, and one each to Doha, Singapore, Riyadh, Dubai, and Muscat were cancelled.


As many as 15 incoming and 15 outgoing flights were cancelled in total, the airport sources said.


Also, eight domestic flights to and from Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Mumbai, were also cancelled on Tuesday. The count is likely to increase in the coming days, said an airport official.
