2 trans persons held for robbing man in Chennai

CHENNAI: The police arrested two trans persons who robbed a man by forcing him to transfer money through UPI after soliciting him. The arrested were identified as Kayalvizhi (28) and Anushika (19) of Perambur.

The 30-year-old complainant from Maduranthagam owns a car and ferries the staff of a private company.

On Friday (Dec 19) night, he dropped off staff at Ambattur and was driving back to Maduranthagam when he halted the vehicle at a bypass to rest. Around 3 am on Saturday (Dec 20), when he was resting inside his vehicle, the duo knocked on his car and allegedly solicited him.

The accused had demanded money from him, and when he refused, they allegedly damaged the car windshield and issued death threats. They forcibly transferred Rs 11,000 from his mobile phone and fled.

Vanagaram police registered a case, arrested the accused on Monday and recovered Rs 8,000. They were produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
