2 booked under murder charges as fruit seller succumbs to injuries

CHENNAI: Two persons earlier arrested for assault charges have been booked for murder after the victim succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased P Mani (58) of Old Washermenpet made a living selling fruits along NSC Bose road near Broadway bus terminus.

On September 11, the victim, in a drunken state entered into an argument with another shopkeeper, Nishar Khan and his friend.

In the melee, Nishar Khan and his friend pushed the old man to the ground, in which the latter suffered injuries to his head.

Other vendors rescued Mani and admitted him to RGGGH, but he succumbed on Friday.

Subsequently, Nishar Khan (48) and his friend, Suresh (42) of Park Town, earlier sent to jail on assault charges, were booked under murder charges by the Flower Bazaar police.
