Sony announces digital distribution deal for streaming

Sony Music today announced a digital distribution deal for streaming and downloading with a large media group in Odisha.

The group, Eastern Media are actively into film production and have their own print media, TV and radio channels.

As per the arrangement, Eastern Media's vast and rich catalogue which includes its old and upcoming films, the rich folk theatre (Jatra) content, Sambalpuri songs and the devotional 'shloka mantra' will now be available across all digital properties.

"We are proud to be associated with Eastern Media Ltd, a media giant from Odisha and we will help them digitise and monetize their music content across digital platforms," Hari Nair, Director - Digital Business, Sony Music Entertainment India, said in a release.

On behalf of Eastern Media, its chief executive officer of non-print division Malaya Mishra said "We decided to exclusively partner with Sony Music for digital distribution. This is a good learning for us and we are sure of making it a success."
