CHENNAI: CMF stands for Colour, Material and Finish. Nothing’s sub brand leans on all these elements with products that stand out with their unique design language.
CMF Headphone Pro marks the brand’s first foray into over the ear headphones. These ear cans have finally kept their India date a few months after their global debut.
We think that they add much needed oomph in the sub Rs 8K headphone segment, and it’s more than just the funky design.
Playful, modular and colourful. These are some of the attributes you can tag with these headphones that break the clutter with a refreshingly cool design language.
The build is largely plastic and yet doesn’t look cheap. One of our favourite features is the modular design with swappable ear cushions. These ear cans come in three colours including the light green that we checked out.
They are also available in Dark Grey and Light Grey. It’s the green that stands out, especially when you pair them with the orange ear cushions (optional accessory). The retail box also includes a carry pouch and an audio cable.
This pouch is convenient to slip your headphones into a backpack but they’re not foldable making them slightly bulky to pack.
The Headphone Pro is IPX2 rated for water and dust resistance. They can cope with a little sweat or a faint drizzle. We dig the array of controls that include everything from volume to extra bass to ANC that are easy to get acquainted with.
Set up is a breeze with the Nothing X app and also includes a quick personal sound setup process via this app. It creates a custom EQ Profile after a three-minute process.
The EQ settings are quite basic but the custom sound modes are quite handy. The ear cups are geared for long listening sessions with deep and soft padding while the adjustable headband offers a snug fit.
The CMF Headphone Pro is easily one of the best on the audio front in this segment. While most brands in this segment go overboard with the bass, these headphones find a balance.
We like the soundstage and were more impressed with the ANC (Active noise cancellation) that worked quite well even in loud environments.
These headphones typically power up in two hours and deliver great battery life. CMF claims 100 hours without ANC and 50 hours with ANC on.
While we couldn’t validate that during our review, we think that you won’t reach out for your charger frequently given the battery performance during our tests. Battery life is one of the many features that makes the CMF Headphone Pro easy to recommend along with it’s refreshing design. (Rs 7,999)
